I don’t know about you but I get really fed up thinking about what to eat. It seriously drives me mad.
I’m not a great cook and most of the time I don’t really enjoy the whole experience. So I’ve come up with a new challenge. For 6 days I am going to eat only 3 different meals.
I’m going to start on Wednesday as I get my weekly shopping on Tuesday. I wanted to share the challenge now though so that for those of you who want to try this with me, you’ve got time to get prepared.
Why 3 meals?
Whenever I watch meal prep videos (I’m a little bit obsessed with them to be honest. And there are loads on YouTube, they all seem to focus on just two or three different meals. And for someone who isn’t that keen on fancy foods or even thinking too much about what meals to prepare, I like this idea a lot.
My food for the 3 meals challenge
My 3 meals are going to be based around Tuna, Chicken, and Steak.
I can have as much salad, veg and fruit as I want.
I will also have Potatoes, cous cous and rice.
Breakfast not included
I’m not including breakfast in this challenge. I typically have weetabix or oats and a piece of fruit.
The three meals are all I will eat for lunch and the evening meals. No set amount for each meal. So I can have tuna salad for lunch and steak cooked in the slow cooker and roasties for the evening meal. If I want to I’ll have chicken for both lunch and evening meal.
I’m not going to do a meal plan for the 6 days. I will buy in a good amount of tuna, steak and chicken and just decide as I go along which meals I want.
Fruit, veg, salad are all unlimited.
I’m also going to get some mixed nuts in. Whilst these will not be unlimited, sometimes I need this kind of snack mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
Mostly I’m going to try and snack on veggies or fruit.
Keeping it simple
As well as keeping the actual meal choice simple, I’m also not going to complicate things by using fancy recipes. I usually find that most are just adding more calories anyway. So I will only be using a sprinkle of seasoning for most meals rather than calorie heavy sauces.
