I hope you’re having a good week. And you’re doing well with your weight loss journey.
I thought it was about time for a diary update.
Beautiful, fresh Brighton and Hove walk
So my son has gone off to Spain for a week with his Dad. He flew from Gatwick which is not too far from where my niece and her husband live in Hove.
We arrived at Gatwick around 10am, grabbed a bit to eat and had a quick drink and we were tucked up in bed by 11pm then the alarm went off for the early morning flight at 3am. I so hate early morning flights, especially when I’m not even going on holiday.
As my son is still only 15, I have to stay at the airport until the flight has actually left, then my niece picked me up. I had fully planned on a nap mid morning. Oh no.
We ended up walking along the promenade and into Brighton. I have to say it was a really nice walk. If you’ve never been to Brighton, there are loads of little shops along the promenade and loads of activities. The sun was shining and it was actually really nice to get out in the fresh air for a few hours.
In the evening we went to a fantastic greek restaurant. My niece said it was a five-minute walk. We got to where she thought it was and we realized it was another good 10 minutes walk away. Oops, it was a fast walk to get there on time. Thankfully a more leisurely walk back.
I really liked being able to just walk to wherever you wanted to go. She bikes to her work and her husband walks. The area definitely lends itself to being active.
I love where I live in my quiet Lincolnshire village but it means realistically we jump in the car to get anywhere we need to go.
Anyway, I’m back home now and all caught up on my sleep.
Oh my goodness. I eat more when I’m cold.
I just had a real “Oh my goodness” moment. I just realized that I eat more when I’m cold. I’ve been out working this morning and arrived home to a cold house. I popped the heating on low but I felt really cool most of the afternoon. Then I realized that I was eating every half an hour or so. That’s so not a good thing is it?
It was because I felt cold. I suppose there is some logic in there somewhere. A layer of fat will keep me warm!?!?! something like that.
Anyway, eating every half an hour is not going to help me on my weight loss journey, is it?
So I popped another layer on and turned the heating up a notch. And instead of eating, I got active for 10 minutes and then made myself a nice hot cup of tea.
You know what, things like this are actually really helpful. We need to be aware of our trigger points that cause us to overeat. So now I know I have this particular trigger, I can consciously steer myself away from overeating.
Okay, so that’s my update. How’s your week going?
- Do you live in an area where you can walk to most places you need to go to on a day to day basis? Or are you more like me and have to jump in the car to get to most places.
- Do you eat more when you’re cold?
Catch up soon.
