I’ve added regular swimming to my week and I have to tell you, I’m feeling pretty pleased with myself.
One of my health and fitness goals for this year was to swim regularly. In all honesty, I thought I might squeeze in one swimming session per week.
Yesterday I booked myself in for 3 months membership at the local pool. It’s a lovely little pool and at the times I’ll be going should be fairly quite.
Yesterday I was actually the only person in the pool at one time, it was perfect.
What, wait up, is that me in the picture. sadly no. I’d be more likely to do an unelegant divebomb. And I certainly don’t have that figure. But, you know what I’m okay with that. In fact, I’m not even aiming for a body like that. I’m aiming for healthy, fit and slim (with my natural curves).
I feel really positive that over the next few months at least I’ll be able to go to the pool on a regular basis.
I drive straight past the pool every time I go to collect my son, which is usually 3-4 days a week when he stays after school. So, really it’s a no-brainer. I love swimming and it’s going to help me achieve my health, fitness, and weight loss goals.
Being pool ready every day.
I know that for me, I need to make sure I’m pool ready every day.
I have my swim bag ready to go every day. I’ve got small size toiletries such as shampoo and conditioners, a small size hair brush…
I’ve got my drinks bottle and a healthy snack tub. Because I’ll be carrying on to pick my son up and may have a little wait time, I take some dried fruit and nuts with me as I know I get really hungry and thirsty after a good swim.
Setting a target
I love setting goals and I really want to make the most of my swim time. So I set myself a target of 50 lengths. Once I’ve done 25, I can go and have some time in the sauna, which I really love and really helps me with my breathing as I have sinus problems. Then back in the pool.
I’m pleased to say I managed 54 lengths on day 1.
I’m aiming to increase that over the next couple of weeks to 100 lengths.
Me time and relaxation time
One of the added bonuses of spending time at the pool and choosing a nice small center is that I really feel like I’ve had quality me time. Getting to relax in the sauna and feel by body relax was bliss.
And because I’ve chosen a nice leisure center that’s not overly busy, I can also take my time and have a relaxing shower, dry my hair and take the time to put my moisturizing cream on.
As I sat in the sauna yesterday, I realized that this is something I’ve not been doing lately
How are you getting on with your health, fitness, and weight loss goals? Is there an activity you really enjoy that you can add into your week?
