Is night-time eating a problem for you?
I don’t know about you, but once I’ve finished off work for the day or whatever I’ve been busy with and I get settled down for the evening, that’s when the munchies can kick in, even if I’ve already eaten a big meal.
I’ve heard from my Facebook group members that some of them have this problem too.
so, today I thought I’d share a few tips to help avoid night time eating plus I’ve added a full EFT script at the end – If you’re new to EFT, I’ll explain all later in the post.
Distraction Techniques to avoid night time eating
If you know that when you sit down and pop the television on, you’re also going to grab something to eat, try distraction techniques and do something different such as writing a hand-written letter, exercising, dancing, singing, phone a friend… Try to get out of your normal routine a little and avoid the triggers.
Have healthy snacks on hand
If your night-time snacking tends to be things like crisps, cake, biscuits, chocolate bars… make sure you plan a healthy snack. Maybe veggie sticks with hummus, a small bunch of grapes with some mixed nuts, a couple of oatcakes with low-fat cream cheese, a piece of fruit…
Affirmations are positive and usually present tense statements that we say to ourselves. We are affirming what we want to be true for us.
- I am totally in control of my eating habits
- I am building positive eating habits
- I love and respect my body
This will distract your mind and to keep your hand busy, try writing them out. And say them out loud. You won’t be able to eat if you’re speaking.

No, my GO-To tip to avoid overeating is drinking plenty of water. Definitely, do this throughout the day. However, you don’t want to be drinking too much water in the evening before bed. I for one would be at the toilet half the night. But do keep sipping water throughout the night.
Get plenty of sleep
I know when I’m really tired, I’m even more likely to overeat, so make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep. I personally aim for aroun8 hours most nights. Sometimes it’s not possible but most nights I make this an absolute priority.
Have a long soak in the bath
I don’t eat in the bath, nope, definitely, don’t want crumbs in the bath. Allow yourself to deeply relax, enjoy the feeling of the water, add some beautiful scents, light some candles. Make it a really special time to unwind.

Do some EFT

EFT SCRIPT to release the need for night-time eating
Tap the side of your hand. It doesn’t matter which hand you use to tap.
As you tap the side of your hand repeat this statement 3 times – Even though I eat at night time when I’m not hungry, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. (repeat 3 times)
Next, follow the points below. At each point simply say NIGHT TIME EATING
Points to tap…
Start of the eyebrow (the thickest part)
Side of the eye
Under the eye
Under the nose
Chin ( the point between the bottom lip and bottom of the chin)
The collarbone – the soft areas underneath the collarbone, just to the side where the dip is at the base of your neck)
Under arm (where your bra sits)
Top of the head
Take a nice deep breath a sip of your water and repeat.
I recommend that you repeat three times.
You may not notice any difference straight away but pay attention to how you feel over the next few nights.
You may feel a little tired after tapping. That’s okay. Just try to rest up and get a good night sleep.
