Hi Everyone, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week whilst I’ve been away on my hols. I had a really lovely week, even if the weather was a little hit and miss. Anyway, I have some fantastic news. You may remember in previous posts and on the on of the reasons I was so keen on doing my up and down steps exercises was my desire to be able to get up the stairs where we stay on holiday without it nearly killing me. In previous years, I’ve really struggled, got very VERY out of breath, had to keep stopping and I felt very embarrassed. So on the first day I got up early and went out with my 9-year-old niece to conquer the steps.
Of we went, and guess what happened.
I got to the top of the stair super easily, to the point where I was sure I must have missed some out. The dreaded steps were not so bad at all. In fact they were easy. I even ran up them one day.
This was a massive achievement for me and one I could really measure. Last year it was awful and really hard work. This year it was easy.
That just shows how much my fitness levels have improved.
Both of my sisters and my mum commented during the holiday on how much fitter I am compared to last year. I know it, but it’s still really nice to hear it from other people.
Other successes on my holidays
I managed a 18,000+ steps day plus some swimming, which was wonderful.
We did a 5 mile walk that was all up and down hills. I seriously think this would have had me in hospital last year. I even ran a little (very little) part of the way.
We did several 3-5 mile walks and we went on the amazing outdoor gym park. I so want one of these in my garden.
I so wish I’d taken pics to show you, but I was so busy enjoying it and just getting on with it, I forgot. Sorry.
All in all a wonderful healthy and active holiday.
Goals for August
Okay so Jack, my son is away for most of the summer with his dad. It’s always a time when I struggle with my eating habits in particular, mostly because I miss him, I’m not in so much of a routine and I’m cooking for myself and I’m also now not going to be getting my normal morning walk in. So I need to get creative.
- 10,000 steps (or more) a day.
- Get out for a walk at least once a day.
- Eat at least 1 healthy meal each day
- Drink 4 + big glasses of water daily.
- Eat 5+ Fruit and veg daily
These are my goals. You might think it’s a bit weird having a goal to eat at least 1 healthy meal a day. Well, I know how life gets during these few weeks of summer when Jack’s away, so I’m going easy on myself. I’ve had days in the past when I’ve literally eaten pretty much chocolate, crisps and biscuits and not much else when he’s away. I know I’m not hungry, I’m emotional, trying to fill a gap. So I’m going to be doing lots of tapping (EFT) Stop comfort eating with EFT and I’ll be asking myself “Am I hungry?” a lot.
Okay, time for me to get moving. Have a great week, let me know what you’ve been up to in the comments below and what goals you’re setting for yourself this month.
